Kaleb Hicks beating AML

My husband and I have been put through the ringer over the last couple of weeks. My husband (Kaleb) and I enjoy adventure and went rock climbing on Dec 28th. He started to feel sick and tested positive for the flu type B on Dec 30th, and over the next several days, he kept feeling worse. I took him to the ER twice, and even though they said he just had the flu, I had a bad gut feeling. I called his primary care physician because I knew something was wrong and got an appointment. While we were there, he passed out, and his eyes were rolling in the back of his head. His blood pressure was 80/60. I kept him conscious, he was rushed to the ER again and tested negative for the flu/COVID. They called me about an hour later and said that he has one of three types of blood cancer. He got transferred over to Barnes and we found out he has Acute Myloid Leukemia. He also currently has pneumonia, an ulcer, vitamin K deficiency, just got over the flu, his heart function was rough but getting better, and wasn’t sleeping. He didn't sleep in 14 days, and almost was rushed to the ICU due to his heart function. His heart rate was constantly between 120-150 BPM. Over the last few days, he started to get out of the bed and actually do things for himself. He was able to get off of the oxygen and heart monitor. His anxiety has decreased and he is sleeping again. He is even exercising on the bike and walking around. Every day, he has been working on getting better. His strength is truly exceptional. We are going to continue to pray and hope that he will be 100% shortly. I am so proud of him, and we will continue to get through this.
