Kalei's family who lost it all in the Maui fires
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kash Kiefer and my heart goes out to all of those who were affected in the Maui wildfire tragedy. My sister used to live in the same area that was burnt to the ground. I was put in contact with this amazing family who have 2 beautiful children that suffer from hearing loss and attended a special school. Please read their story and lets make a difference for this family, for their loving kids. God bless everyone! Let's raise enough money to help this family get back in their home! Immediate funds raised will go towards their temporary housing now and any immediate supplies that they need. I will be dedicating a page on FB and will post any and all progress that I can to show how thankful we are to help this family out.
Aloha Kash, my name is Kalei, I got your contact info from Aunty Becky. I am generational Hawaiian from Lahaina, I was the executive Chef at Mala Ocean Tavern before the fires. My wife and I both lost our jobs and our home, although still standing was deemed unlivable by FEMA due to smoke and ash damage inside and we lost all our possessions as they were deemed hazardous (we rented a home on Lahainaluna Road)
We have two kids, Suede who is 6 years old and Roux who is 4 years old. They both attend the deaf education program at Kihei Elementary as they both have hearing loss.
Aunty Becky mentioned that you’d like to help support a family with a fundraiser and we would be really grateful to be apart of that if possible.
We have signed a new lease in Kihei and move in October 1st. We’ve used what we had in our savings to get into this new place but not sure how or when we will start to get back to work but have been volunteering in the meantime.
Mahalo Nui Loa,
Kalei & Kate Ducheneau
