Kallie: The Miracle Micro
Donation protected
My high risk pregnancy turned into a journey like no other. After four days of bed rest and a series of tests to monitor a medical term called absent end diastolic flow, I was told Kallie would need to be delivered right away because the if she stayed in the womb any longer there was a high possibility of still birth.
Kallie was born on May 24, 2019; 15 weeks premature and weighed just 13oz. That's less than 1 pound and about the size of a 22 weeker.
Doctor's were not even sure if their equipment would be small enough to intubate Kallie.
We have endured so many days of joy, sadness, confusion, and after 150 days.
Kallie is able to come home from the NICU.
She is a miracle micro because typically, babies born under one pound have a slim survival rate and Kallie is defying the odds thanks to the expert care she received from an amazing NyICU team and prayers and support from family and friends.
Now we will set out on a new part of this journey as Kallie was have to see numerous doctors and specialists to help her continue to grow physically and mentally. We didn't plan on medical bills that could continue on well past the due date.
We know that is was our choice to have baby Kallie and we are blessed to be able to share her journey with the world. She is a miracle!
