Help Charlotte & family fight childhood Cancer
Donation protected
When the unfathomable happens, we look to our community for help.
What began as mild symptoms, eventually escalated to a helicopter ride from Michigan City, IN to Children’s Hospital of Illinois in Peoria, for a 2 week stay. A few days into that 2 week stay, Charlotte was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), which comes with a very long road to recovery. Although rare, ALL is the most common form of pediatric cancer. Thanks to incredible developments in modern medical practice, most of those children (nearly 90%) make a full recovery and live a healthy life. But no matter how high the success rates, it is a terrifying experience to learn that your child has been diagnosed with this disease and must undergo chemo treatments to be cured. The average treatment plan runs almost 2 1/2 years and the entire family’s lives will be turned upside down for at least the first year to year and a half of this process. It will include twice a week visits to the clinic for blood work, chemo and various procedures and additional stays in the hospital for a least a couple days or as long as several weeks at a time.
Positive thoughts and energy are of utmost importance and very much needed and appreciated.
Many have asked how they can help at this time. Relieving them of the financial pressures will allow them to focus on the love for Charlotte and mutual support needed during treatment, healing and recovery. I know they would be eternally grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
