Kalyn's Jaw Surgery

Isn't this a pretty picture of me? I already have my braces on, which is why my teeth are all blinged out. And my earrings over on the left have never looked better! 

Seriously though, to the untrained eye, this x-ray doesn't even do my jaw justice.

In technical terms directly from my surgeon, this is the problem: "dentofacial deformity manifested by right mandibular condylar elongation, maxillomandibular canting and midline discrepancy with facial assymetry and crossbite." And this is the solution: "LeFort I osteotomy to level the maxilla and correct the occlusal cant in conjunction with mandibular bilateral sagittal split osteotomies to reposition the mandible."

If you are like me, none of that made any sense. So let me put it in more basic terms: my upper and lower jaws are deformed and do not align as they are supposed to. In order to fix that, my upper jaw needs to be widened and leveled (it is on a tilt right now), and my lower jaw needs to be moved from the side to the center. This video I found is very close to the exact type of surgery I need:

I have already been on track with braces in preparation for the surgery, and everything was looking good until I got the determination back from my health insurance: after multiple appeals and an external review, they still denied coverage. 

This leaves me in quite a pickle, as I am already on track for the treatment (I am supposed to have the surgery in 6 months!) but can't possibly fund it all out of my own pocket. I am working my bum off saving as much as I can, but I need help. Asking for help is not something I do easily. I pride myself on my independence and ability to get things done on my own, and make my own way. So doing this is a huge step for me, and should show you how much I need it. I am currently looking into different surgeons to see if I can find a more affordable option, which is why I am trying to raise a lower amount, once I have made a final decision on where I am getting it done, the amount I am trying to raise may change**
