As many of you know, on Friday June 17th Kambie Perkins was admitted to the hospital with a tumor located in her left lung. A biopsy on June 20th confirmed the tumor was small cell carinoma, an aggresive form of lung cancer. Chemotherapy was started on June 22nd, 13 years to the day that her father lost his battle to the same cancer. She will have 6 rounds of chemotherapy along with 6 weeks of radiation. The chemo and radiation will be a tough battle but one she is ready to fight.
At this time, she is unable to work due to the chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Kambie had recently taken a new position with a company in February. Unfortunately, she does not qualify for FMLA because she has not been with the company for a year. This will be placing an extreme financial hardship on the family. They will also be dealing with medical bills due to the treatments.
If you know Kambie, then you know she is the first person to help in a crisis. Now it is our turn as a community to return the favor! Kambie has put on countless fundraisers in our community, jumped at any chance to coach basketball and never fails to make sure every kid in Northern Kentucky has a joyful Christmas. These are just a few of the things she has done without hesitation. Please show your support and let her know the community is behind her in this fight! Give generously and help us lighten the load on this deserving family.
She fought with grit, grace, God and won! #kamfam
