. I'm reaching out on behalf of my dear friend and amazing artist, Kandy Lozano.Kandy's entire art studio was destroyed last week in the Woolsey Fire. This devastating event destroyed so much of Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Calabasas and Agoura. Every last bit of Kandy’s ability to create and continue to work and make a living has been loss.
The studio was reduced to ash. Nothing is left to sift through or salvage. She is needing to replace all her necessary materials and find a new space to work again. She, like so many career artists, accumulated many years of special tools, materials and paints, all of which burned
Kandy is a full-time artist and relies entirely on her painting sales to support herself and her son, Logan.
Throughout her career, Kandy has professionally operated her own studio to produce gallery shows and commissioned work. Kandy has generously donated to several fundraisers such as Mending Kids International, Last Chance for Animals, and The Boys & Girls Club of America. Up until this devastating fire, Kandy had several commissions ready for delivery, as well as works in progress for an upcoming gallery show. With the holidays approaching, her busiest season, the work she had prepared also perished in the inferno.
In addition to the personal loss of her studio and artwork, Kandy is also in the middle of another family tragedy.To put this in perspective, justtwo weeks before the fire took her studio, her 24 year old nephew from Orange County was in a horrific car accident, where he remains in a coma.
Starting over will be a long and painstaking endeavor and any help in this process would be humbly appreciated.
I’ve known Kandy for more than 30 years, and I’ve watched her grow as an artist and use her gifts to benefit others. Her heart for those in need has led her every decision, and she often walks away empty handed. As an artist myself, I’ve created this campaign to try and help someone that has spent a life helping others.
