This is a community effort to raise funds so that the Kanui ʻohana (Makaiwa, Maikaʻi, and their two sons) can become homeowners on Hawaiʻi island. This is where they were both born and raised, and where they now serve as cultural practitioners, community organizers, artists, musicians, gatherers, ministers, parents, and a beloved member of their greater 'ohana community.
Specifically, $170,500 will be given directly to the Kanuis, who are purchasing a home on Hawaiʻi island. The funds are being given freely and in the spirit of aloha, without strings or expectation of repayment.
