Kara Ingraham's Fight Against Cancer

My name is Adrienne, and I am raising funds to help my 10-year-old niece (who will be 11 in September), Kara, and her parents, Jackie Karls & Dan Ingraham. On August 3, 2022, their whole world fell apart when Kara was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. The severity of her cancer has not been staged at this point; we are waiting on a PET Scan and bone marrow biopsy to see if she has cancer in her bones. Currently, she has a large tumor on her left kidney and nodules on her lungs. This type of cancer usually starts in the bones; it is very rare for it to start in the kidney. Ewing Sarcoma is aggressive cancer and can be hard to treat.

Kara will undergo chemotherapy starting on August 6, 2022. After chemo, she may need further treatment, such as surgery to remove the rest of the tumor (and possibly her left kidney), a stem cell transplant, and radiation to the lung nodules.

Kara is a strong, sassy, stubborn child. With a great team of doctors at the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, WI and the support of family and friends, we know Kara can kick cancer's butt.
