Karen Golding's Medical Care
Donation protected
Long-time member of our equestrian family and one of our own, Karen Golding, is in great need of our help and support! A household name in the equestrian world, Karen has devoted her life to this great sport and taken care of so many of us and our horses over the years in her roles as a Hall of Fame groom, FEI Steward, USET Olympic Games Barn Manager, and good friend to all.
Recently, complications caused by her diabetes led to several major and life-threatening health challenges. Just before the holidays, she had to make the difficult decision to amputate one of her legs just below the knee. Though she had been in a rehab facility for the past year, the drastic lack of quality care at this facility exacerbated these issues and put her at even greater risk for additional devastating problems. One of her doctors recently said, “the lack of care at the current facility is criminal!”
The situation is urgent, and we are acting quickly. Her long-term care under Medicare has run out and she has almost exhausted her savings. A hospital bed has been delivered to her home and caregivers are being hired. Krysia Nelson, Karen's attorney is handling the finances and the disbursements to ensure the money is going exactly where it is needed.
Now we need you, her equestrian family, to donate. The specific goal is to raise $120,000 to fund her private care for one year. These funds will enable her to have the extraordinary round-the-clock care that Karen needs so desperately and deserves in order to give her the opportunity to resume her daily life, back with her horse show family! It takes a village and we have a strong, caring village! Please consider a donation, if you are able. Every donation matters and brings her one step closer to funding this critical care.
If you are local to Florida, please visit Karen and brighten her spirits during this very hard time! If you are not local she would love a call or a text. Please keep her in your prayers and again, thank you for considering a donation!
