Karen battles Hurricane Ian
Donation protected
My sisters journey with Hurricane Ian:
For those of you who know my sister Karen Theis I’m so grateful to let you know she is SAFE! Karen evacuated 40 miles inland from her “diamond in the ruff” she was renting on the bay only 1.5 miles away from the Ft. Myers Beach bridge. You can imagine how devastated she is to see that her home is now a complete loss and there was loss of life in her development..For those of you who don’t know Karen she is a 35yr. Full time Florida resident who not only teaches in Bonita Springs but works a 2nd job at Cattledock bait shop that is located near the Sanibel Causeway toll booth; which now is totally inaccessible and more then likely will no longer remain operable for the near future. Karen’s compassion in trying to help others prepare for this storm likely shorted her own time to take more then she might have when she evacuated. Essentially Karen is starting over and this has resulted in a immediate need for securing housing, furniture, clothing and other items. She is a hard worker to a fault, lives a fairly simple life and whenever she could catch her breath you would find her fishing off her beloved sea wall, dock or out on the beautiful Sanibel causeway. Please send prayers that with all the devastation in her surroundings she can stay positive and strong. If you are in a position to make a donation of any kind towards her recovery it would be greatly appreciated. For those of you who have reached out to her and have not heard back the ability to communicate has been difficult. I hope these donations and kind words can bring a sense of comfort to her while dealing with all the loss. Thank you for taking the time to hear her story.
What her allotment looked like during the storm - water is almost to the rooftops.
