Karen Searl the Warrior

Hello, this is Lisa (Meyers) Mennig and I am fundraising for Karen (Spawn) Searl.

Karen and I went to Oneida High School together graduating with the Class of ‘86. In 2019 Karen was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast and bone cancer. She was told she only had 6 months left on this earth. Wow! 6 months?! Hearing those words were not what Karen was expecting. She knew she was in a fight for her life with 98% of her bones covered in cancerous lesions.

Karen receives treatments at Moffitt Cancer Institute in Tampa, Florida. At Moffitt Cancer Center, they work tirelessly in the areas of patient care, research and education to advance one step further in fighting this disease. Every spring Karen and Gene make their way back to NY to spend time with their family. While Karen and Gene are in New York Karen continues her appointments with her doctors in Cooperstown who treat her according to her oncologists in Florida.

All of the driving back and forth to treatments and doctor appointments in Florida and New York has caused financial stress for Karen and Gene. Not to mention the gas, the tolls, the food and the prescription medication (oh the Prescription Medication!) and everything else that goes along with keeping someone you love alive.

I am asking you to please help Karen and Gene with their financial stress. Every little bit will help Karen to continue to fight this nasty disease. As I said above she was originally given 6 months to live and here she is 4 years later, living like a warrior! That is simply A-maz-ing! Her treatments are working and they have given her some much needed time on this earth to see her family.
