Karen Wipert

Hi, my name is Judy Parker, and I am fundraising for my good friend Karen Wipert.

Karen has been a nurse for 30-plus years; years ago, she lost her husband to ALS and was forced to raise her daughter alone. She has worked endlessly trying to be a great single parent, Her daughter Morgan is now soon graduating from university, thanks mainly to her mother.

Karen recently felt it was time for her to live life a little and took a traveling nurse position to see the world. She found out she had breast cancer as she was preparing to leave. Karen made it through a bilateral mastectomy and radiation therapy like a trouper. When she was cleared to return to work, she was off again. Karen then had a bowel infection that sent her to the hospital for a short stay, and inadvertently a CAT scan showed something in her uterus. Instead of crying and waiting and wondering, Karen made arrangements to have her womanly parts removed to ensure the cancer did not spread. She recovered nicely from that and got the ok to return to work, so off she went for another travel position. This week, Karen was traveling to her next job and unfortunately had a rare complication from her last surgery; she was rushed to the ER and had emergency surgery. Now she is unable to work for 12 weeks. Karen is unsure what she will do as this cancer has eaten up any money she had. This nurse lives to help others and is now unable to help herself. Not working is unfamiliar to Karen as even while going to radiation therapy, she worked on a covid unit, helping those who needed her, and worked to support herself and her daughter. This week Karen was told she needs to take some time and recover and repair her body. Karen does not know how she can do that as the bills need to be paid. Please help me help Karen pay her bills and stay afloat till her body heals and she can work again.
