Karen's Memorial Service Fees
Karen
Karen Ortiz was a kind, loving, young lady who was violently taken away too soon from our family and everyone that loved her. She was a vibrant person with a bright future ahead, a rising senior at UTSA with big plans for her future. She was actively involved in the San Antonio College Student Leaders, and Student Government, and held leadership roles on campus. In addition to being an outstanding student, she worked a part-time job and had plans to start her career in San Antonio, near her family and friends.
Karen was a selfless, gentle soul that always put her friends and family first. Everyone who knew her saw the bright, positive light she was when she entered a room. She always saw the good in others, and that’s what made her so special.
Unfortunately, on August 4th 2021, she was murdered by an individual close to her, who then took his own life. Our family is painstakingly waiting to put her to rest, and dealing with the aftermath. Because of the violent injuries she sustained, we will not be able to see our sweet girl one more time. We wish to cremate her and have a memorial service in her honor, celebrating her life. No parent deserves to go through such pain or the burden of laying their child to rest, so I'm setting up this fundraiser to help her father (my uncle) with the expenses. Any help is appreciated or even just sharing her story.
My goal in sharing Karen’s story is to spread awareness for victims of domestic violence. She was robbed of her future far too young, and our family will do everything in our power to be her voice.
Thanks for Your Time,
Kimberly Flores
