DOING IT FOR THE DOGS KAREN’S HALF MARATHON

So in September 2018 I took on my first ever Half Marathon
raising awareness of Kemo and raising money for a local Hospice. Because I have AS running is not an option for me but I did it
walking in 3hrs 41 mins.

Since then I have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis but I am
advised that exercise is the best way to live with my conditions.
So I have signed up for this year’s Bedford Half Marathon
happening on the 6th September 2020.  Because of Covid
obviously we can’t all take part together but do our own Half
Marathon. I’m hoping this year to complete the 13.1 miles in
under 4 hours

Whilst doing the marathon I will be raising awareness of the Pet Theft Epidemic in the U.K. As the Petition for a specific Pet Theft Law closes on the 4th September I’m hoping it will have obtained the 100,000 signatures to get it to a Debate, so on my walk I will be asking people to get their MP support in readiness for the
debate.

I would also like to raise some money for the smaller Rescues in
the U.K. who rely on Public Donations to keep them going to help the animals and as you can imagine their fundraising
opportunities have taken a real bashing due to cancelled events because of Covid, this has had a major impact and many are
struggling to stay afloat and continue with their devotion to
help. I have chosen 4 Rescues that I would like to help and
hopefully raise £1,000 to be split between them here’s my
reasons for choosing them.

❤️KEMO STOLEN CANCER SUPPORT DOG❤️
This is the beautiful Staffy local to me that started me on my
journey in the world of Missing and Stolen Pets. Kemo a Cancer
Support Dog has been missing since 8th February 2018 and
believed stolen. His family search for him everyday. Since doing
so his mum Deb has also become a valued part of the missing and stolen and indeed rescue. In the name of her boy she sponsors
dogs that need rescuing and helps get them out of an awful life into a loving home.

❤️SKY STOLEN ❤️
Is a beautiful Rottweiler that was Stolen on 2nd December, 2015 from the back of Mick’s then pub The Smawthorne  Hotel  in
Castleford. Sky’s family still search for her everyday. This
brought Mick into the world of Pet Theft and in the name of his
beloved Sky has set up his own Get Sky Home Dog Units. He has brought and kitted out two dog units to transport animals in
need of rescue around the U.K.  Among others he transports dogs for Rottie Retreat Rescue, Wirral. I am raising money for Mick
and Rottie Retreat Rescue. Both do amazing work for the
animals.

❤️PET RESCUE STAFFORD❤️
I first became aware of this Rescue in April 2019 when a post
was put on Facebook about a dog (named George by the rescue)  an English Bulldog thrown out of a car in the early hours of the
morning. Luckily for George he ended up with Pet Welfare
Stafford who treated his many issues, he was nearly blind,
emaciated, had a tumour abscess amongst many others. With
love and care and expensive treatment he recovered well to go
to foster. Sadly on the 11th July George suffered a stroke but
being the strong and well loved boy that he is he survived. Your
contributions will go towards the care of George and other
animals.

❤️PART OF THE FAMILY DOG RESCUE❤️
This is a unique Rescue near to my hometown where all the dogs live in the home. Kim is a behaviourist where she helps the
animals overcome their past and live in harmony with others at
her rescue which is also a sanctuary safe haven for many who
have endured years of abuse and like Willow and Bentley who
are terminally ill. They are an absolutely wonderful Rescue of
Dogs

Their devotion to all in their care is admirable, they do so much
and depend on the goodwill of the public for donations but do
many events for fundraising to keep them going and I would like some of your donations to go there.

My Target is £1,000 to split but I’m hoping once you have
