Prairies, Pollinators and Pioneers
Donation protected
On my last day as Director of the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge, I had to get out of the office. I chose the Oak Motte Trail to mow one last time -one of my favorite spots and habitats on the Nature Center. I’ve been working with current and former staff on an idea for an interpretive sign along the trail explaining the importance of butterflies and other pollinators as well as the contributions of Joann Karges, the last remaining member of a group of (mostly) women whose tireless dedication to the formation of a Nature Center over 50 years ago, gave us this wonderful preserve. Joann has shared her love of nature (and particularly butterflies) with countless people over the years.
The sign will be similar to this beautiful sign at Chisolm Trail Park with information about the importance of pollinators on the prairie and the contributions of Joan Karges to our appreciation of butterflies and other insects.
If you are a fan of prairies, pollinators or Joann, please help us make this a reality by donating and/or sharing this post with others with similar interests.
Thanks,
