Kari Asmus Birt's Cancer Expenses

Hi, my name is Jeni, I'm Kari's sister. Kari is a school teacher and is in the middle of battling breast cancer. She began chemo in early December and is experiencing financial difficulties due to missed work days from severe disabling bone pain and extreme fatigue, just a couple of the side effects of chemo. She has used all of her paid sick days and has lost 11 days worth of pay from her most recent paycheck and anticipates missing 12 more work days. As far as Kari knows, she will have one more chemo treatment and will miss more work days, with no more paid sick days available for the rest of the year. Radiation therapy will begin shortly after she is finished with chemo.

Kari has so far accumulated $3,000 in medical expenses and expects this amount to accumulate over the coming months.
