Kari Hable during health crisis

Many of you know Kari Hable as their teacher or colleague at Champlin Park High School where she has dedicated 28 years to. As many of you know, my mother has been dealing with significant health issues for years but recently it has gotten much worse which has led her to be in and out of the hospital for the past year. Among other things, she is currently dealing with multiple organ failure and doctors trying to manage the sickness at this time. This has made it difficult for her to work and she no longer has any sick time so every day she is gone is a day without pay. She is currently living with Arika so that she has some help at home with her everyday needs. We have been waiting months for her appointment at Mayo which is on January 23rd!

After many long conversations, we have decided to have her pursue long term disability. This means going 90 days without pay until long term disability kicks in. Leaving the classroom is not an easy one for her but she knows it needs to be done for her health. She does not want to leave a job she is so passionate about but knows this is unsustainable.

April will set up an account for Kari to have direct access to this money as we work through this time. This money will help pay for bills, medication, and daily expenses while we work through this difficult time. This was not an easy decision and one we have talked about many times but I know that it will take some stress off her plate so she can focus on her health.
