Karing for Kendall

In the earliest hours of September 4, 2019, Kendall Tobe (Midikat) faced the frightening sight of blood draining from her left ear into her throat. In less than a day, she would be diagnosed with leukemia.

I (David) met Kendall while standing in line for more than four hours outside a comic book store, waiting on Rick and Morty merchandise in the blistering sun (she is such a fellow nerd!). We had fantastic conversations, as all of Kendall's friends and acquaintances can attest to, and it turns out we had several mutual friends as well.

Later, I would meet my gf (now ex, but still dear friend) who had been close with Kendall for many years. She too spoke to Kendall's beautiful character and spirit, and her contribution to the Sacramento region and community.

I "met" Kady online while starting this journey. Little did I know, she had already floated the ideaa dozen hours prior to me beginning this effort.

The funds being raised will go directly to Kendall. They are to be used as she sees fit, but I anticipate some of the following things:

1. Medical support. Regardless of her insurance plan, she is likely to have multiple out-of-pocket expenses.

2. Her animals. Those who know Kendall realize she is an animal lover. Horses, birds, dogs, cats. You name it. She has literally been at the bedside of other sick folks, offering to care for their animals for free. I'd like to make arrangements to make sure all of her animal care is properly compensated while Kendall fights (and wins!) this battle.

3. Quality of life. As Kendall progresses through this fight, there are things she will need and want to receive a sense of comfort and relief. Meditation, music, new books, travel (even if only short trips when she's feeling up to it), excursions with friends, family, or Isaias.

It pained me to hear Pat Walsh tear up on his show last night discussing his "show family" and Kendall specifically. She has offered so much to the Sacramento community; let's see what we can do for her.
