Karissa Loomis Spinal Surgery

The start of A new year is supposed to be Welcoming a new year of hope and joy. This time of year the Loomis family is usually enjoying quality time together and counting down the days to summer time, rodeo, riding horses, and spending time with family. However this year For Karissa, her husband Cody and kiddos Tilden (3), and Kaedence (10) things kind of took a turn with Karissa’s health.
On the third of January Cody and Karissa were swinging their son Tilden inbetween them and Karissa hurt her back. She woke up the next day barely able to walk and later couldn’t use the restroom on her own. She was then rushed to Swedish in Seattle where she spent three days. Karissa was Diagnosed with Lumbar Spinal Stenosis, Lumbar annular Tear, and ruptured L5 disc. The last couple months have been spent battling with insurance, uncertainty, fear, series of tests and doctor visits, injections, and many questions.
Karissa has been trying to go about her day to day as normal but it has gotten to where her quality of life is greatly hindered. She can’t ride her horses comfortably without her legs going numb, she can’t walk up a hill or stairs without throwing out her back to where she cannot walk, she can’t care for her kids on her own, nor can she work comfortably. The list goes on. Karissa is in dire need for spinal surgery ASAP.
Karissa is a business owner and has insurance through her husband Cody- however her spinal surgeon is out of network and won’t be covered. In network surgeons are no longer an option.
Cody and Karissa have tried to appeal the non-coverage but the insurance companies have denied and quite frankly we are running out of time as Karissa is facing Severe nerve damage and feeling in her right leg and bladder. This surgeon is highly recommended as he is the best of the best.
Her out of pocket expense for the surgery is $28,000. On top of that Karissa and Cody will be a one income family for a month while she recovers. That’s where I come in- if any of you are wondering how you can help- that is by donating to her surgical expenses, prayers or sending words of encouragement, I wanted to be sure to provide the opportunity here to help ease this burden on her family. Karissa is so good at toughing it out and putting on a front therefore she was so so hesitant to ask anyone for anything. So, here I am, to ask on her behalf.
