Karla and Mike Daniels are living examples of love, devotion, and unwavering faith. They have dedicated their lives to serving the Lord and their family. Three years ago, their world was shaken to its core when Mike, at the young age of 58, was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's, often referred to as "the great thief," is affecting every facet of their lives. It's a disease that takes not only memories but also emotional, financial, and physical well-being. Their journey since that fateful diagnosis has been nothing short of a nightmare. Karla and Mike, a united team through every storm, found themselves navigating the turbulent waters of disability claims, paperwork, and bureaucracy. For the past year, Karla has watched their hard-earned savings disappear beneath the mounting weight of medical bills.

Despite the difficulties and the overwhelming exhaustion, Karla strives to maintain a positive outlook and continues to enjoy life's simple pleasures with Mike. However, the wear on Karla is more than we, her friends and family, can bear. Karla needs our help more than ever. We are reaching out to you to request both financial support and your prayers.

Since creating this fundraiser, Mike has been placed in a memory care facility where he requires full time care. The toll of Alzheimer's on him is heart-wrenching and unpredictable. From moments of docility to restlessness, anger, confusion, and sadness, the disease has taken hold in a way that no one could have anticipated. Karla's love and dedication have never wavered, but the burden has become too heavy to bear alone. Recent events have further complicated their journey. Mike's frequent falls and aggressive behavior towards other residents have led to multiple trips to the emergency room, jeopardizing his current placement. Mike's young age compared to others battling Alzheimer's only adds to the complexity of his situation. The cost of Mike’s care has increased as the disease has progressed.

We want to continue the Karla and Mike Daniels Alzheimer's Care Fund with the hope of raising enough money to cover additional costs per month to cover the cost of Mike's care. “Mike passed away on January 3, 2024 but we wanted to write one last note to everyone who so generously supported us through Mike's illness. First and foremost, thank you. We could not have managed financially nor given Mike the care he needed without your help.

Mike was simply the best person I've ever known. Alzhiemer's began stealing him long before his passing in January. The past several years were sad and exhausting but they were also scattered with intentional time spent giving joyful experiences to Mike and happy memories to me. He loved God, his family and friends well. Mike is present with the Lord where he is whole and joyful. Even though this brings such peace to me, I will miss him until I get to see him again.
