Karla´s volunteer trip

Hi everyone! My name is Karla Caro, and I am a second year Economics student at the University of Texas at Austin. I am originally from Monterrey, Mexico, and I currently live in Houston (when I am not away for college). Not too long ago, I decided to apply to volunteer programs around the world to take what I love doing, serving the community, to a whole new level. Recently, I was accepted into the 'Myself, My World' volunteer program with AIESEC in Antalya, Turkey. During my time there, I will be teaching a small group of high school students English, my culture, and all about sustainable development goal #4: Quality Education. I am hoping to learn as much as I can from them too during my time there. The program will also allow me to explore the culture in Turkey and learn more about its history. I am very passionate about voluteer work, and all I seek in return is a smile  or just the chance to impact a new community. This opportunity will give me the chance to work towards developing my leadership, coordination, organization, and management skills. Also, it will be the first time I ever go abroad. With your donations I will be able to pay for my plane ticket, program fee, and meals while I am in Turkey.  I hope I can raise at least half of the necessary money by the end of March or beginning of April to buy my plane ticket at a lower cost. I will also be applying for more scholarships for volunteering. If I am able to raise the funds, this program will allow me to step out of my comfort zone and work towards inspiring other students to learn and share their experiences while volunteering abroad.
