Kasha Rigby Transport, Memorial & Charity Fund
Donation protected
Dear Friends, thank you for your visiting Kasha's GoFundMe. Currently we are seeking support to return Kasha to Scotland, transportation for loved ones, and memorial expenses. Her family and our ski community would be deeply grateful for any contribution you can afford.
Some of these funds raised will be used to create a Kasha La Foundation Fund supporting sports for children in developing and recovering countries.
About Kasha La~
For decades, pioneering skier Catherine "Kasha" Rigby traveled the world, but she started thinking about settling down over the past couple of years. Rigby had a list of accolades and accomplishments, a passport full of stamps, and a purpose as a United Nations aid worker.
Originally from Stowe, Vermont, and a former resident of Crested Butte, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah, Kasha dedicated her time to service of others in Nepal, Bangladesh, and other areas worldwide.
She joined The North Face team in 1995. She is recognized for having the first climb and ski descent of Cho Oyu (26,907 feet), also credited as the first telemark descent; the Mongolia Women's Ski Expedition, in which her team was first to ski the Five Holy Peaks; the Hanuman Tibba Women's Expedition, the Kamchatka Women's Ski Expedition, the first ski descent of Mts. Udina and Zimina; as well as the first female ski descent of Mt. Tolbachik (all telemarked).
Most recently, Kasha and her fiancé, Magnus Wolfe Murray, were in Kosovo at the Ski Center in Brezovica. On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the pair were skiing when Rigby was caught in an avalanche. Though it was small, it swept her into trees, where she was killed on impact.
With deep gratitude and appreciation for your love and support,
