Kastan's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Kastan is a hardworking, devoted dad of 4 little kids. He has a fiery spirit and the biggest heart. To know Kastan is to love him!
He grew up in American Fork, where he played baseball his whole life. He has a love of sports and works hard in all that he does. After high school, he met his wife Taylee and her little boy, Kohen. He quickly fell in love with Kohen and stepped into the role of a father easily. He has raised that sweet boy ever since. In 2020 they had their daughter Blayke, and were married in 2021. In 2022 they completed their cute family with twin boys, Ruka and Rhyden.
Kastan built them a home near Taylee's family in Weiser, Idaho. It was a labor of love but he was determined to give Taylee and their kids the life they deserved. Their home is full of laughter, love, and a lot of chaos. Kastan works hard for his family so Taylee can stay home and raise their children, while also being an incredible, hands-on dad. His family means everything to him!
On Tuesday, January 21st Kastan was dealing with an intense migraine, something that he has dealt with his whole life. He woke up a couple hours later without function in the left side of his body and was unable to move. Taylee called an ambulance and was taken to a hospital in Weiser. Shortly after, he was transferred to a larger hospital in Boise and was admitted to the ICU. He has undergone several cognitive tests, blood tests, echocardiograms, a CT and an MRI which confirmed he had suffered a stroke at only 26 years old. He is healthy, active, and has no underlying conditions that might have caused this. To say his doctors and nurses were in disbelief is an understatement. He is currently still in the ICU undergoing more tests to hopefully determine the cause of this at such a young age.
Kastan has a long road to recovery ahead of him. He still doesn't have function of his left arm, and very little function of his left leg. He is left-handed so this is incredibly frustrating for him. He will stay at the hospital for the next couple weeks until he is strong enough to be transferred to an inpatient rehab facility in Boise. He will stay there and complete physical therapy for several weeks. Obviously, this means he will be out of work and away from his family for the foreseeable future. Kastan and Taylee are a one income family and rely solely on Kastan's income. Not to mention the medical bills and travel expenses that will accrue, as Boise is over an hour away from his home in Weiser.
With his fiery personality and determined spirit, we have no doubt he will make a full recovery, especially with all of the support from his family and friends. It has been an emotional journey for Kastan so far, and gaining function in his left side will be a difficult journey. We hope that helping him financially will allow him to focus solely on healing so he can get back home to his family.
Thank you for all of the messages, prayers, and love sent our way. We appreciate it more than you know!
