Kat Zwiesler, help someone that helps everyone!

If anyone knows Kat, they know she’s the person you want on your side; she is the first person to drop what she’s doing to help someone else. She has taken countless “racetrack kids” under her wing to help improve their riding skills, or to help them climb the ladder in this business. She is also an amazing single mother who loves her daughter to no extent.

Need a home cooked meal? She’s got you covered. Need a place to stay? Her house is open. Need money? If she has it, she will give it all to you. She would never do this for herself because she is too proud to ask, but it is our time to help Mama Kat as so many people know her.

She went to the emergency room on February 11th of this year for what she thought was a pinched nerve in her neck. Further MRI testing showed that with several vertebrae there are osteophytic endplate spurrings with diffused bulging discs and superimposed right paracentral disc extrusions. It also showed severe central canal stenosis as well as a right-sided neural foraminal narrowing secondary to the bulging discs. On Wednesday, March 15th, her neuro surgeon will be taking out the herniated discs from her vertebrae, fuse it together, and add plates as well. This is a huge surgery that comes with many risks.

To add to this, she will never be able to gallop a racehorse again, let alone ride. Anyone in this industry can truly understand the heartbreak that comes with never being able to have that feeling again.

Because this did not happen at work, it will not be covered by workman’s comp. To add, since her recovery is 4-6 months, she will not receive disability.

I am trying to help in the best way I know how, and that is by getting the word out. I know that Kat needs some help, as she has helped so many of us. She is an amazing mother, as well as an amazing friend that we are all so fortunate to know.
