Kate Davis' Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Hello friends, family, clients, and anyone who’s heart has come across this go-fund me.
In a blink of an eye, your life can change due to unforeseen circumstances. In a rare case, that circumstance can be a disease. Your goals, dreams, and priorities are suddenly forced to take a different turn. You leave behind yesterday and determine how you’ll make it through today.
My name is Kate Davis.
I’m 31 years old and am a wife, daughter, sister, friend, but most importantly… a mother to my beautiful 8 year old daughter Delilah who is my entire life and now every ounce of motivation to get through such a difficult time.
What I thought was a quick visit to the ER, turned into the most gut wrenching day of my life. I noticed that over the past year and a half I started to develop symptoms that any other person would consider “normal”. Extreme fatigue, headaches, jitters, chest pains, dizziness, etc. It wasn’t until I collapsed at work that I felt like something wasn’t right and quickly took action. The doctor at the time made no effort to run any tests and brushed it off with it most likely being “anxiety and depression”. My 8 hour full-time work days felt eternal and impossible, so I transitioned to part time which promptly after felt the same. I could barely make it through a part-time day. I fianlly worked my body to the point where i couldnt physically work anymore. Shortly after I developed pneumonia which led me to visit the emergency room once again. At the emergency room, I was prescribed an antibiotic and was about to be discharged, luckily shift change happened and a different doctor came on board. He expressed more concern about the pneumonia prolonging more than it should have. With no hesitation, he ran a CT scan (with contrast), where a mass the size of a softball was found in between my lungs. Because they wanted to be sure of what this could be, they decided to do a biopsy.
On June 1st, 2023 I got the call that no one would EVER imagine receiving. The call was to confirm that the mass found in between my lungs was in fact cancer. I was numb to what this could mean. I was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma. I never thought this would be my life… until it was. Life stopped at that instant and so much ran through my mind but the first and only thing I could think of was my daughter. The fact that I had to be strong and continue to push through any obstacle that came my way with this for my daughter. I thought to myself “ I have to get through this for Delilah… she needs me”.
As I mentioned earlier, your priorities are forced to take a turn. Right now, my priority is to fight through this diagnosis. I’ve been told it’s a long battle ahead and the treatment is aggressive and will be approximately 6months+.
If you know me, you know it’s taking me a lot to ask for your support as this is something I’ve never done before and never thought I’d do. Your support will help drastically with housing expenses, treatment costs, bills, and everything there is to come with this journey.
I also ask for you to keep me in your prayers as I continue to relentlessly navigate through this and hopefully go back to being the mother, sister, friend, daughter, and wife I was along with the cheery girl you saw behind the camera. If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read this, I love you all!
With love & a heavy heart,
Kate Davis. ❤️
