Earlier this summer, our mom Kate experienced some unexpected symptoms after recovering from bronchitis. After following up with her primary doctor, she experienced a sudden change in her vision. Ultimately, this was diagnosed as a growth on her pituitary gland. We were referred to a stellar neurosurgeon at Mayo in Rochester by a close family friend who had experienced something similar. She underwent surgery in mid-October to remove the growth and is currently recovering at home for 6-8 weeks.

At this same time, through many medical tests, my mom was also diagnosed with lung cancer that has metastasized. She is currently waiting to begin her cancer treatment as she recovers from her brain surgery.
