Katherine's Fight Against Cancer

Katherine’s Wish as she battles Cancer.
“I was diagnosed with a very rare triple negative metaplastic breast cancer in November of 2014, during Washington National Opera's production of La Boheme. I immediately had a total skin sparing mastectomy followed by 16 very harsh chemotherapy treatments, all in the hopes of zapping out the cancer. Everything seemed to be going according to plan. My first PET scan and my mammogram after chemo were supposed to be routine check-ups. But they weren’t. Soon I was experiencing a splitting headache with vomiting. An MRI revealed that the cancer had spread to my brain. I am now facing stage 4 brain cancer. All of a sudden, I'm fighting for my life, but I'll fight strong for my 12 year old only child, Andrew. He's my inspiration, my hope and my everything.
Andrew is a member of Team USA Stacker (World Sport Stacking Association- www.thewssa.com) and will be representing the United States at the World Championships this coming April, the Junior Olympics in July and US National Championships. He has already broken several World records. Now, everything has changed. I haven’t been able to work since the diagnosis and my husband, Mark, has been working two jobs to support our financial needs but in May, he lost his primary job. The disease has exhausted our savings and we're having deep financial struggles. I can't afford to take supplements to assist my battered body nor am I able to take Andrew to the World Championships in April.
Before this cancer consumes my life, please help make it possible for me to live to see Andrew be a World Champion.”
Our loving, loyal, talented, smiling, funny, styling Diva is in big trouble and she needs our help. Help, not just for Katherine, but her almost 12 year old son, Andrew. Although we have some of the best medical resources in the world, none of them comes free and now she needs us to help her get to her goals.
We, Katherine’s colleagues at Washington National Opera, need you to help us get the word out. It takes so little of a donation from you. Think of what we spend for a tank of gas. We can make sure that Kate gets the care she so desperately needs. Now, she needs us.
The cancer is spreading, but there are new technologies that can help her. Kate’s son has a tournament in April. We HAVE to get her to that tournament. Be a part of this, you won’t regret it.
See her son Andrew’s talent!
