Kate's quality of life with stage 4 cancer
Donation protected
You may remember a fundraiser a couple of years ago, for my great friend Kate, to raise funds for her to go to Hungary and receive some alternative treatment for her cancer. Kate’s cancer is incurable but she can at least try to keep it at bay for as long as possible. She was in a lot of pain when she went last time but this treatment was successful and made a real and immediate impact on Kate’s well-being. Now, Kate is unable to work and unable to claim benefits - to be honest, she is in a ridiculous predicament. So, I would love it if you could donate any amount, large or small, to help her to have some further treatment in Hungary to keep the wolf from the door a bit longer.
Kate has always been the kind of person who is interested in what makes people tick. Her intuitive understanding of what people are thinking before they know themselves has meant that she was able to help very vulnerable people who might not know how to ask for it. I have lost count of how many people's lives she has changed, shaped, and helped over the years (although she never acknowledges it). Kate has done so much for so many and yet, she has never done anything to expect something in return. She is genuinely kind, and now people need to be really kind to Kate. It is time to let others help her.
Time is all we have, but if we can spend that time with a better quality of life, that is just as important as the time itself. In early 2023, Kate visited Budapest, her partner Leon's hometown, where she could undergo alternative treatment that had immediate effects. In just two sessions, she was able to eat a meal again with no pain or discomfort, which she has been unable to do for almost one year. This fundraiser is to raise funds for her to hopefully go to Budapest again, (with consent and encouragement from her oncologist) and receive treatment that could be life-changing and enhance the time she has. If she is not allowed to go to Budapest because of her health, then she can use the money for whatever she chooses. I think that is fair enough and I am sure anyone who has met Kate, will agree with that!
When Kate and Leon's story was shared before, it was a daunting process for them. Kates's experience with cancer is deeply personal, and sharing this can be overwhelming. But regardless, we want to share these challenges with the community she has invested her life into building, and we hope you can help support this fundraiser. It would mean a lot to both Kate and Leon, but also to all of us who love them.
