Katherine Kicks Cancer

Whether she is your family, your friend, or your coworker, Katherine Slattery is the type of person who always shows up for the ones she loves.
And now, as she faces the most challenging obstacle of her life, it’s time for us to show up for her.
Her Story
If you’ve been lucky enough to have Katherine in your life, you understand how devastating it was to hear the recent news of her diagnosis. In mid-2019, Katherine started to notice symptoms which prompted her to see a doctor. As a healthy 29-year-old, it was a huge challenge to figure out what was wrong. Katherine was passed from doctor to doctor, hoping to find a reason for and a solution to her symptoms. After months of countless doctor’s appointments, tests, scans, and more, Katherine finally got an answer. On February 3rd, 2020 she was diagnosed with Stage IV Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Katherine started an aggressive six-month cycle of chemotherapy treatment on February 10th. She did great through her first round of treatment, but has a long road ahead.
Though we remain positive about her prognosis, Katherine has a tough journey ahead of her.
Beyond the physical toll that a 6-month cycle of intensive chemotherapy will require, she will also need to take a medical leave of absence from her passion – working as a physical therapist at the International Academy of Hope (iHOPE). Katherine has dedicated her life to helping others, working with children who have sustained brain injuries or other brain-based disorders and who cannot be served in their local school systems.
How You Can Help
Katherine will be undergoing chemotherapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center while she continues to reside in Brooklyn. Though she will be getting the best care possible, it will come with a very heavy financial burden.
Over the days, weeks, and months ahead there will be countless doctor appointments and medical bills on top of the cost of everyday life (i.e. having to drive to and from treatments since she will be unable to be exposed to germs on the subway, meal services, rent, etc).
Please help us ease the burden by taking a moment to donate, share, and encourage others to support Katherine during this challenging time. This will allow Katherine to focus on getting well and fighting this disease like the badass she is.
Thank you for taking action and showing up for her.
