Kathryn Downey's Medical Costs

Hey everyone, as some of you may know, Kathryn has been in the hospital since 10/31/2023. She initially went to the ER with stomach pain which turned out to be Pancreatitis that was affecting her surrounding organs. Just short of a week after checking in, she was intubated in a medically induced coma with necrotizing pancreatitis, fluid in her lungs, kidney failure, liver failure, and ammonia building up in her body. She was in that state for roughly another week with the odds stacked against us after the ICU doctor said her condition at the time had a 90% mortality rate. While we're not out of the woods yet, she has been able to speak, walk, and,

for a short while, eat again. While she is still in the ICU at St. Luke's in Milwaukee, WI with her MELD score currently showing a statistical mortality rate of 80% within the year, we are hopeful that Kathryn's condition will continue to improve even though she isn't viable for a liver transplant. Though she is currently covered through her workplace as far as insurance goes, her contract ends in February meaning she will be uncovered until I am able to add her to my insurance. If you know us, we are rather private and having to write this hard in so many ways, but we are humbly requesting any amount you are able to donate in order for us to combat the ever compounding medical expenses that are flying in as Kathy continues healing.
