Kathryne Storheim's Funeral Expenses

Hi, my name is Beth Storheim, and I'm fundraising to try to cover the funeral expenses of my mother, Kathryne Storheim, who recently passed away on March 13, 2025, after a battle in the hospital with pneumonia and sepsis.

This is Mom and I, from a few years ago, before her health took a downhill turn:

I hate to have to do this, but sadly, my parents did not save for this eventuality. We have some family members who are offering to contribute to some expenses, but we're hoping to raise as much as possible, mostly so that neither my Dad nor other family members have to get buried in more debt to cover these expenses. Just to cover the funeral alone is about $1500, nevermind the funeral service expenses (over $3000) and the urn purchase ($100-500) and burial. [UPDATE: we decided against the $5000 columbarium niche, and to have a burial in a ground plot, but that's still going to be around $1500-2000, all told].

I wish I could contribute, but I don't have any savings or a real paycheck, and I've just been maintaining my fairly full credit card debts until I get work to pay them off. I spent the past year just caregiving for my Mom while living at my parents' home, so finding time to apply for work was difficult. I am looking for work now, though, which is even more challenging, as I continue to grieve.

The funeral is coming up on March 31. The burial will happen in the springtime, when ground plots are easier to see and select. Here's the obituary link if you want more info and to see other contribution options, as well as see the online comment wall and guestbook.
