Kathy & Tory Johnson's Accident
Donation protected
On September 14th Tory and Kathy Johnson were in a motorcycle accident. Upon arriving by ambulance to Regions Hospital, Kathy was immediately taken into surgery to repair an open fracture of her left tibia and fibula; Tory was admitted for a severe concussion, 5 broken ribs, and extreme lower back and hip pain. Following their release from the hospital, they needed 24-hour home care and many types of adaptive equipment. The past few months have consisted of multiple doctor appointments, surgeries, physical therapy, and ER visits.
In the 4 months since the accident, Kathy is still unable to put any physical weight on her leg and uses a wheelchair and crutches to get around. In December she met with a Neurological Pain Specialist where she was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). She underwent 2 Sympathetic Nerve Blocks in hopes to relieve the pain, which were unsuccessful. Kathy continues Physical Therapy 5 days a week and has been referred to a different Neurological Specialist for the implantation of a Spinal Stimulator. She will have 2 surgeries within the next few weeks; doctors are hopeful this will relieve her pain and she will regain the ability to walk with continued Physical Therapy; as well as being referred to the Mayo Clinic for pain management going forward.
Tory continues Physical Therapy for his lower back, hip, and left leg. He is also still coping with the after-effects of the severe concussion.
This unfortunate accident has drastically affected their lives in many ways, including Kathy losing her job in December. As friends and family continue to help with their care, make meals, and provide transportation to appointments; Kathy and Tory are experiencing financial strain.
We are trying to assist in taking away some of the stress and financial burden by starting this GoFundMe page.
The Johnson's, as well as their family, thank you in advance for any support and donations. Please pray for their continued recovery during the months ahead.
