This is a fundraiser to help the family of Kathy Hardaway Mistretta lay her to rest.
The Lord called Kathy home on November 15, 2023. Our hearts were not ready, nor allowed any time to prepare for her unexpected passing caused by an embolism. Grief has tried hard to overshadow what solace those who knew and loved Kathy knew; that she was finally reunited with her husband, Tony, who preceded her in death.
Kathy was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was truly her world; including her coworkers that she made deep friendships with. She loved the holidays. She enjoyed all the decorating and family getting together. Her spirit of intentional generosity was larger than life and favored gifting those she loved. Kathy had a wonderful sense of humor and her laugh was infectious. Oftentimes, her son Anthony and her would go back and forth building on something said that drew a giggle from the duo until everyone in company was belly laughing with tears of happiness running down their cheeks.
This beautiful soul is survived by her son Anthony and his wife Erin, her daughter Amanda and partner Daniel, and a total of five grandchildren. Her mother, father, sister, and one brother are also here to keep her memory alive in this world. Kathy is preceded in death by her brother, Ronald.
This has happened as both families were getting ready to prepare for the holidays. With no retirement, estate, or life insurance the family
will have to bear the weight of laying Kathy to rest on their own. Sadly, this is not the first or the second time this year the surviving family has had to deal with this kind of loss. Not even four months ago, Anthony and Erin's children lost both of their maternal grandparents, and now their Gigi. We all expect this holiday season to be a little less merry and bright with so much weight of responsibility and the emotional turmoil that comes from losing such a huge portion of the children's life. We all know how difficult raising a family can be even without such devastating events; adding unexpected funeral costs and the loss of a family member on top of that can almost be too much to bear.
The funds collected will go to covering end of life care, all funeral expenses, which we all are aware have become unbearably burdensome as of late. Any funds beyond the costs will be used to financially help the family during this time of transition and grief. Any amount donated means so much more than any words of gratitude we could express. Prayers are also always welcomed for Kathy's family and friends.
Thank you for reading this long story. I feel like I could go on and on about Kathy and her family, but I'll just end with a wish whether or not you donated. Tell those you love them while they are still here. Bury the hatchets.
May God bless you and keep you.
