Kathy Knight Memorial Book Scholarship Fund

On August 30th 2018 we lost Mom. Six long years now she has been gone and yet her memory lives on strongly in those who knew and loved her. She taught kindergarten for 35 years and truly believed in making a difference in kids lives. She always said teaching a child to read was a lifelong gift. We have created this scholarship fund to buy all of the first grade students at Mallett School in Farmington Maine one book every month. This book is theirs to take home and enjoy over and over. This makes a huge difference in kids lives, especially in rural Maine. Mom would have been thrilled to know this was happening and helping to create life long learner's. Many of you have helped fund this and we appreciate your gifts. With the help of Emily Beaudoin, who organizes from the teaching end, we are making a difference. Last year the kids seemed to really like What if You Had an Animal Tail by Sandra Markle, as it was mentioned often in their thoughtful thank you notes. We thank everyone for contributing in Mom’s name, we know she would have thanked you and hugged you many times over if she was still here.
