Kathy Mack's Cancer Battle

Life is full of many surprises but unfortunately our family has just been hit with the worst. On May 18th, 2018 while working in the ER, Momma Mack wasn't feeling well and was encouraged by a fellow staff member to check into the ER to be seen. Her CT scan revealed tumors in her lung, throat, and brain which turned out to be cancerous. Upon further testing, it was found to have spread through out lymph nodes in her upper body as well.

     Even though she has worked at the hospital here in Pottsville for the last 14 years, her insurance considers it "out of network" for her to receive treatment here without her having to pay the very high deductibles and co-pays as well as the high cost of medicines involved. The other alternative is she would have to be taken to Allentown almost daily. She's already very weak prior to starting treatment so that much travel would take a toll on her very quickly, as well as taking time away from her 4 children and 11 grandchildren. She would rather stay close to home where she can be more comfortable and already knows most of the staff that would be helping her.
