Kathy May’s Cancer Fund

WHAT:  
As many of you know by now, our beloved Kathy May was recently diagnosed with Cancer.  Specifically it is Spinal Lymphoma, Diffuse large B-cell Lymphoma sub type and it has attached to her spine at C6 which has caused some paralysis in her left arm.

TREATMENT:
She is working with an excellent Oncology Team and they started her on an aggressive treatment plan.  She received her first Chemo session on 2/26/20 and she will be receiving a total of 6 Chemotherapy sessions over the next 5 months, with a strong likelihood of radiation treatment afterwards. Her team remains confident that this IS treatable, which is also why time is of the essence. 

HOW CAN I HELP?
Kathy has been unable to work for a bit and will continue to be unable to work as she goes through this treatment and regains her health and her strength. Because of this, she will no longer have a steady income and her insurance coverage has changed to very high deductible as well copay. This is where YOUR HELP comes into play! She doesn’t have an accurate guess as to how much all of her treatments will cost just yet but she has created a best guess with what she does know so far which includes the following expenses for the next 6 months:  
- Chemo
- Medications & Medical Supplies
- Personal bills/expenses such as: Car payments/insurance, utilities, cell phone, food etc. 

This totals approximately $10,000! 

Since she has already been out of work and begun her treatment, her bills are beginning to collect so the time to donate is now.  This will be an ongoing fundraiser for her over the course of her treatment and I will be posting updates here as she has any news to share. Please consider donating as much as you can on a monthly basis to help her through this, even a latte’s worth will help!  She has such a strong faith and so many looking out for her that she is remaining as strong and positive about this as possible.  

Since she will be cooped up at home during this time and is unable to venture out into the world much, she has also started an Amazon Wishlist if anyone should wish to contribute there as well.

Due to her Mom Irene’s own health struggles, Kathy is asking that you PLEASE NOT discuss her Cancer with her at this time.  When and if she decides that the timing is right, she will share this information with her but she does not want her Mom worrying about her so that she can focus on herself. Please respect her wishes with this.  Irene is aware that she has been seeing a doctor to help with the mobility of her arm and that is all at this time.  Thank you in advance for your time in reading this, your consideration in the sensitivity of this and most of all- your financial contributions to her well-being.  We all appreciate it so very much.
