Kathy Warren with her medical expenses

As many of you know, the scariest moments in life are often the ones we never see coming! The moments that seem to derail your entire life...one word did that to my friend's life...CANCER!! I can't share her story as well as she can, so I will let her words speak for her.

Kathy Warren:

I want to thank everyone for their prayers today. I also would like to say if you are a lady, please make sure and have regular mammograms done. I had a routine mammogram about a month ago, which revealed something suspicious, so I had a biopsy done last Wednesday. The surgeon was pretty confident that it was benign. Today started like any other Monday until my phone rang and showed NEA Clinic calling; it was the call that no one wanted! These are the words no one wants to hear! The surgeon said you have cancer. Can you be in my office at 2:30? I found out that I will have bilateral mastectomies on Friday!

Aside from the shock of this news and the scary, uncertain future, I have many real worries. I will be off work and have no paid time off or short-term disability. I have to pay 5000 as a deductible before my insurance kicks in, and then 20% of each visit and procedure. I have limited family to help during recovery, and those that can help will need to take off work or college to assist me. I am so worried about how we will make ends meet, financially afford my loss of income, and how we will pay the medical bills that are already rolling in, and the surgery Friday will further add to that. Cancer is scary, and being without a job and uncertain of my future is scary. I know God will see me through, but I can't help but feel overwhelmed and alone.

Many of you know Kathy from the college (BRTC). She worked in academics, student affairs, and financial aid. She was always there to help students and encourage them to keep going when they struggled through some of life's most difficult times. Now Kathy's difficult time is here; she needs your help! If you can donate, it would truly help her and her family with medical expenses, care and recovery. Let's try and encourage her by showing how much we care! Thank you so much, and please keep her and her family in your prayers!
