So I never thought I would be in this position in life, but I truly believe someone more powerful than me has a plan for each of us. An amazing woman very close to many people’s hearts was given a very tough diagnosis. Our mother,Kathy Wilhite, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 terminal liver cancer. By the time it was discovered it had spread to her lungs and multiple other locations in her abdomen. On Sunday, October 25th she was taken to the emergency room because of several complications...This emergency room trip ended with her being admitted to the hospital along with several more tests, only to find out that the cancer had also spread to her brain. She started palliative radiation therapy on the multiple tumors in her brain to relieve the symptoms of those tumors and to help comfort her and make it possible to begin chemo for the cancer in her abdomen and liver. This has not been an easy thing for her or the family. Kathy has been a very tough woman her entire life. She is literally the toughest woman I know! Just 4-5 weeks ago she was doing normal weed eating and working in the yard. I always said she could out work any man at any time. She isn’t just tough she is also the most caring person I know... I can remember as a child her wearing clothes and shoes torn and worn out and buying my brother and I the best she could afford. There were times she would literally skip meals to make sure my brother and I didn’t have to. Being very active in sports from youth leagues to high school, she never missed a game or event. These are the times you really reflect on life and the important things. While Kathy (Mom) has insurance to help with her treatments and many other financial assistance programs available, Mom and Dad are on a fixed income and any extra bills become a worry for them and the family. The biggest burden being the remaining costs that insurance does not cover for her medication that she needs to comfort her and help battle the cancer! Please pray for this very special woman!
