Help Katie Addante with expenses due to horrific car wreck

My name is Kristina Klein. I have started the fundraiser to raise money for my friend, my team member and fellow colleague, Katie Addante. On Saturday December 7th at 10:35 am Katie's life was completely changed in the blink of an eye. That morning her day started with stopping at our real estate office to print some documents and then she got into her car to head out to start her day. For those that don't know, Katie is a Realtor and a member of my real estate team. Katie was driving down a two lane road with a large pickup truck in front of her. That truck quickly swerved to avoid the vehicle that came into their lane. Katie never saw the large SUV until it was already in her lane and made impact. Katie's vehicle was absolutely destroyed in the collision. It pretty much folded up like an accordion. EMT had to use the jaws of life to remove her from the vehicle. She was immediately rushed to a local hospital. In the meantime, the woman and 2 passengers who hit Katie fled the scene on foot. The driver was later found and arrested. The hospital Katie was taken to determined her injuries were more than they could handle and she was transported to Loyola Hospital. Upon arrival to Loyola she was greeted by a trauma team that quickly rushed her into surgery to stop her internal bleeding. Once the internal bleeding was stopped they quickly moved to performing surgery on her knee. Katie sustained severe injuries to her knee, leg and ankle. Her knee was pretty much shattered, 2 broken bones in her lower leg and her ankle was broken. Her leg was pretty much held together by metal pins and rods. On Tuesday she went under the knife again for a 3rd surgery on her knee. She still has a chest tube draining fluid from her lungs and is having a hard time hearing. The impact was so severe it dislocated the tiny bones in her ears making it difficult to hear. At the young age of 22 this sweet beautiful woman has an extremely rough and long recovery road ahead of her physically, emotionally and financially. God knows how many future surgeries and months if not years of physical therapy she may need. We will never be able to take away the pain she is going through or be able to put her life back to the way it was prior to the accident. My hope is to help raise money for Katie to help with the financial burden she is about to face. We want her focus to be on healing and not having to worry about paying bills as she does not know when she will be able to return back to work.
