Katie in Korea

As a part of my East Asian Studies major at the University of North Georgia, I get the opportunity to study abroad in Seoul, South Korea this upcoming fall semester. Having spent the past three years studying the language and culture of South Korea, I'm incredibly excited to be immersing myself in the local culture and daily lives of those I meet. With study abroad, there are a lot of fees that fall beyond academic reasons, such as travel expenses and local opportunities, among many others.

The university I'll be attending is Ewha Women's University (이회여대학교), located in the heart of Seoul. Ewha was founded in 1886 by Mary F. Scranton, a Methodist Episcopalian missionary. It was the first Korean University to be officially recognized following the end of the Japanese occupation in 1945, and has been the source of numerous female leaders. I'm so excited to learn more about and become a piece of Ewha's rich history with foreign students.
