Support Katies brain tumour fight
Donation protected
We are fundraising for Katie, from Castleford, West Yorkshire. Katie was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour
Funds will prolong Katie’s life with alternative treatment and increase her prognosis and quality of life, this treatment is unavailable on the NHS.
We never imagined the following would happen…on 24th January we got devastating news, after Katie visited the gp with headaches, they sent Katie to the hospital where she had a ct scan and at 40 years old was given the diagnosis of a 5cm brain tumour.
Our world feels like it has come crashing down and we are absolutely heartbroken. Katie will need urgent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, from knowing very little about brain tumours and specific types of tumours, to reading a huge amount of info, stats, studies, trials and treatment options we have discovered the NHS is limited to what gives Katie the best chance, this fundraising is about opening up additional treatment opportunities (immunotherapy treatments not currently available on NHS for Katie’s tumour) alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy, so your donations will simply give Katie a much, much better chance at battling this. Time is of the essence and we need to raise these funds to get this treatment asap.
Katie gave up work 3.5 years ago to home school their youngest son who has autism and learning difficulties. Any further money raised will not only offer continued immunotherapy treatment it will also enable Ryan to take some time off to care for Katie and the kids throughout her treatment.
This feels so cruel to happen to someone so kind hearted who is an amazing partner, daughter, sister, aunty, cousin, friend and simply the most devoted mother to her four children. We are trying to protect the children as much as we can so drip feeding them what they need to know, it’s heartbreaking to navigate this and anyone who knows Katie knows she lives for her kids.
