Katie Shier: Medical Care & Recovery Expenses

Katie's heart is failing and she has excessive fluid buildup in her heart, liver, and lungs. According to her doctors, Katie’s heart is too weak to function on its own. While she does not need a transplant at this time, her heart is considerably damaged and not working properly. Her doctors are optimistic that they can treat her condition with medication, but say she will need to take the medication for the rest of her life. If the medication is not effective, Katie will need a heart transplant. Her doctors have already put her on the transplant list.   Katie was admitted to the hospital for treatment on December 10, and must remain hospitalized until the fluid buildup is removed from her heart, liver, and lungs. At this time, we are unable to predict when Katie will be healthy enough to be released. Contributions made will help cover Katie’s medical expenses and support her husband and their 5 beautiful babies during this difficult time.
