Katie Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund Booster

Donation protected
Funny, brilliant, kind, and brave, Katie Sullivan made a lasting impact on all those who knew her in her short time on earth. We'll never know how much she would have accomplished the past 20 years, but we do know that she has continued to make a difference through the scholarship that bears her name. Over two dozen students have received a boost for college thanks to the Katie Sullivan Memorial Scholarship, which has been awarded annually to an Elysian Fields graduate since 2002.

I'm looking to raise $10,000 by Katie's birthday, Dec. 14. In doing so I hope to significantly increase the amount of the current annual scholarship (from $250 to $1,000) and ensure that it is funded at this level or higher for the next 10 years.

Together, we can make certain that Katie's legacy lives on by giving other promising youth the chance to bring light into the world—just as Katie did for so many others. Anything you can give to help get us closer to this goal is a blessing to her memory and to a deserving Yellowjacket. Thank you for your support.

About Katie: Katherine Elizabeth Sullivan grew up in Marshall, TX, and attended Elysian Fields High School where she was a standout in numerous sports and organizations, including varsity softball, basketball, and cheerleading. Katie also excelled in academics: She was a member of the National Honor Society and ranked second in her class academically at the time of her tragic passing in a car accident on Nov. 11, 2001. Beyond her many accolades and accomplishments, she was silly, clever, adventurous, generous, and playful; a ray of sunshine; a loving daughter and big sister; and a good friend. She was—and still is—greatly missed.

About the fund raiser behind the fund raiser:  I began telling Katie all my secrets in the first grade, probably while building a fort and eating too many Little Debbie's snacks. An EFHS graduate, I now work at a nonprofit based in NYC that works with aspiring young leaders around the world—many who hold a spark much like Katie did.  The middle name of my daughter, June Elizabeth, is a direct tribute to Katie and the impact that she had, and continues to have, on me. Through strengthening this scholarship, I hope to contribute to the impact that she still can have on another generation of bright, promising youth from the community she loved so much.

After her birthday, all donations will be passed to Elysian Fields High School, which handles the scholarship fund, and designated to the scholarship. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
