Support for Katie, Asher, and Shane

On Tuesday, October 4th, at 2 PM, every ounce of security our family had was taken from us at the hands of a stranger. We were going about our day(s) just the same as anyone else. Asher had just woken up from a nap and was having cheerios and watching Daniel Tiger. Shane was working hard to provide for our family. And I (Katie) had just finished up some homework and was getting ready for my work day, fixing myself something to eat, while my son enjoyed his snack. It's amazing how what seemed like a simple knock at the door has changed. I cannot express to know the weight of the situation yet because I'm not sure it's hit me. Days following won't be as predictable. Asher's world has been shaken. Shane has been unable to work for the past week. And just as I was getting back into the swing of working, I am unable to do so. We have had to uproot our entire lives and start fresh. Our home, our sense of security, and our emotions (at times) may be destroyed. But our family is not. We will get through this, we will remain strong. We are not asking for your help, we are simply creating a platform for those who had expressed they want to help. Please know that whatever you donate, if you're even able to, will go towards providing basic necessities for our family and most importantly, our son. We are doing our best to carry on as normal. But it goes without saying that things are not normal. I thank each and every person who has reached out to me. I thank every person who has thought about me, or Asher, or Shane, and all the warmth and support we are currently surrounded by. 

I'll reiterate: if you are willing and able to help, you are more than welcome to. But never, ever feel obligated.
