Katie-Louises wheels for running

Hi my name is Katie-Louise and I am 8 years old. I have quad Cerebral Palsy and Dystonia, I am non verbal and a full-time wheelchair user.

I love being outdoors playing, paddleboarding, surfing with Mae Murray Foundation and Sub60 surf school. I love the feel of the wind in my hair when out for a walk or a run in my wheelchair. I love going to Parkrun on Saturday mornings with my dad, who pushed me round when I am able.

In early October 2023 I had double hip surgery and both my hips had rotated beyond 40degrees and the surgery has now corrected my hips to where they should be and are fixed with plates and pins so the bones can grow and strength. It was a 7hour procedure with a minimum 6week recovery.

I would love to be able to enjoy junior Parkrun and other longer runs in comfort and get daddy to push me even faster round the course. My wee brother Dawson (4) has just started Junior Parkrun and he would love it if I could do it with him and dad.

My existing wheelchair is not suited to running or even a fast walking pace and I would love your help so I can get a specialised and supportive running buggy for dad to push that would mean I can make new friends and meet lots of people that I wouldn't be able to otherwise. A set of wheels will help me gain a sense of freedom, enjoy the great outdoors and have the opportunity to participate alongside my wee brother and dad.
