Katie's Art Adventure

Hello, my name is Katie and I'm fundraising to help continue making and sharing my art. I've been doing art in some form most days since I started my Fine Arts Degree in 1998. I majored in Sculpture and Printmaking and was passionate about copper plate etching for years after. Each extremely detailed etch taking weeks, sometimes months to finish. However once I started sharing on Instagram in 2012, I focused on handmade collage and video art - as I could complete a piece most days.

All these years I've been self-funded - it's cost me a small fortune to pay for study and art supplies. I spend hours each day making art and sharing my energy online for no profit. I do all this creative giving out of LOVE and a need to share my observations, concepts and emotions with others. I hope it inspires a few people to think, feel, be bold or brings them a smile. I've been able to create a large collection of art, in between tedious jobs such as supermarket cashier and being a single mother.

I wake up and think ART and go to sleep the same way - it's an obsession! However I've no earthly treasures or savings to show for this 24/7 outsider artist lifestyle. Due to having no extra funds over the last two decades I've been stuck in a limited routine - doing whatever it takes to pay the rent and bills. This fundraiser is to help pay for the expensive ink and paper I use for collage, help fund my experimental videos by allow me to purchase props and get to interesting locations. In an ideal world, I'd love to have an adventure and interact with a few artist friends I've interacted with online over the years> The idea of collaborating with them or taking collage classes is both thrilling and terrifying. If I'd the funds I'd have no excuse not to experience some life outside my own head!

Over the years online followers have occasionally asked how they could help or tip me and I usually decline the offer - receiving is hard for me to accept. However I'm stepping out of my comfort zone in 2024 and YOU can help me do this with a donation. This actually scares me, as it may force me to take my ART into the real world and be brave. I'll certainly continue to share the adventure with you through my art.
