Katley’s medical expenses

Hello! My name is Shayla Stout. My husband (Dewey) and I had our beautiful rainbow baby girl on September 25, 2022. Our first pregnancy ended in loss and it took us over a year to conceive again due to fertility issues. The pregnancy was tough with gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. I ended up being induced at 37 weeks. I was in labor for over 30 hours, pushing for 3 hours, and eventually needing an emergency c-section. Katley was perfect, 6 pounds 3 ounces and beautiful. Then we got the news that her bilirubin level was a 24 which is dangerously high and she was rushed to the NICU for an emergency blood transfusion at just one day old. She ended up staying in the NICU for 5 days and was finally able to come home on a bili-blanket. She is suspected to have a blood disorder called hereditary spherocytosis which basically means she has abnormally shaped red blood cells. She has needed a blood transfusion every 3-4 weeks since birth and it seems like that is going to continue to be the case. Eventually she may need her spleen and gallbladder removed but those surgeries aren’t recommended until she’s at least 5 years old.
We hate to ask for help but are finally at the point that we have to. Medical bills are stacking up and we are struggling. Anything helps and we appreciate everything.
Thank you for reading about our sweet girl.
