Kato’s veterinary bills

Hey, it’s Fed.
Never particularly been a cat person until I adopted my first rescue cat, Bee Bee.
After her, I just realised I needed even more cat love in my life, when Kato made an appearance in our lives, nearly a year ago, and then Prizzi, only a few months back.
Kato, however, always seemed to have a quite challenging journey health-wise.
Her past is a little unknown but when we adopted her from Cats Protection she already had no teeth, tummy issues and an eye infection. She was given back to the rescue twice in the span of 6 months because she requires care and patience.
Very shy, can’t meow but squeaks occasionally, Kato melts my heart with every day passing. If you know us, you’ll know that I love my cats but Kato is just my soulmate. The most beautiful baby I could hope for. We were made for each other.
Unfortunately however, since moving with us, Kato seemed to have developed a skin condition, possibly due to an allergy.
When her condition flares up, Kato loses fur in her face and she scratches herself to the point of bleeding, at some point in the past her muscles were exposed due to it.
Though she’s insured, this is classified as a pre-existing condition as it happened very early on in our adoption journey as her symptoms showed in the first few weeks with us, therefore any costs related to it, won’t be covered.
We’ve done numerous food exclusion diets, which are costly themselves, and she’s now been on and off on steroids to ease the symptoms. She’s been in the care of a dermatologist for a couple of months, who has suggested yet again exclusion diets with a different course of steroids, these being on liquid form rather than injection and short-course. We have excluded numerous other things and this a food allergy alone at this stage would have been the best case scenario.
Though I was crossing all my fingers and keep my hopes up as it seemed to be working for a period of time, it didn’t seemed to have resolved her issues. The dermatologist suggested further tests as it now looks like an environmental allergy (which could still be on top of a food allergy). More tests are required and with the insurance not covering this journey has revealed to be costly.
I’m doing all I can and currently working 2 jobs myself to try and save the penny, and I understand many of us are in a similar situation in this recent economic climate.
Her new tests alone will cost us £1400, this excludes any dermatologist visits (for now we’ve paid around £500 so he can follow her for around 6 months) and any treatments.
Though Kato is “just” a cat, she’s a really my baby and I never want to see her suffering.
Any small donation would go towards her tests and treatments, please accept my humble thanks even if you’re just considering to donate.
