Katrina Gibson Post Season Wrestling Duals
Donation protected
Katrina Gibson is a junior at Aberdeen Central High School. She has participated in girls wrestling for the last two seasons. In 2023 Katrina Gibson won South Dakota High School Girls State Wrestling in her weight class, 154 pounds. In doing so she became Aberdeen's first ever Girls State Wrestling Champion.
Katrina closed out her season with a record of 38-8. She had 37 pre-state escapes, 13 pre-state near falls, 45 pre-state takedowns, 35 pre-state wins, and 30 pre-state pins.
After she placed first, she was approached with the opportunity to participate in post season duals. These include the: Twin River Duals in Des Moines, Iowa, Adidas Nationals in Independence, Missouri, and Disney Duals in Orlando, Florida.
Katrina is very active in extra curricular activities including competitive cheer, side-line cheer, is President of her 4-H club, does community service, and is Secretary of her FFA chapter. Katrina is in good academic standing and maintains a 3.1 gpa.
Katrina is very thankful for her coaches, Donnie "Bowden" and Jake "Flakus" as they help push her to become better and learn every time she steps foot on a mat. After winning, her coach, Bowden, said "She's the first girl state champ in the three short years we've been doing it. She did it the most dominant way possible-- she pinned everybody." Katrina says "knowing (she) can further (her) potential" helps keep her motivated.
In her free time she likes playing with her deaf dog, Betty, camping, roller skating, arts & crafts, and hanging out with her family and friends.
In closing, we want to thank you for your consideration for a donation and want to let you know that the greatest donation you can give is the referral to a friend.
Donations will go towards entry fees, room, board, travel, and other expenses.
